Intellectual Property & Licensing

Version 2026-07-07 · Last updated July 7, 2026
Draft template — pending review by qualified counsel. This is not legal advice and is not final.
How ownership and licensing of submitted designs are handled.

1. Challenge IP model

Each challenge declares an IP model (for example, "Company owns winning design after award", exclusive license, non-exclusive license, or a custom agreement). The declared model is shown to solvers before they submit.

2. Winning designs

Unless a challenge states otherwise, rights in the winning design transfer or are licensed to the posting company upon payment of the award, per the declared IP model.

3. Non-winning designs

Solvers retain ownership of designs that are not selected, unless the challenge explicitly states otherwise. Companies must not use non-winning designs beyond evaluation.

4. Originality and third-party rights

Solvers represent that their submissions are their original work and do not infringe third-party rights, and that any third-party tools, models, or templates used are properly licensed and cited.
